Explanation using Example

Imagine a situation where John and Alex get into a heated argument at a bar. In a fit of rage, John punches Alex, resulting in Alex suffering a broken arm, which is considered grievous hurt under the law. Since John has voluntarily caused this injury, and it is not a scenario covered by section 335 (which deals with grievous hurt caused under grave and sudden provocation), he can be charged under Section 325 of The Indian Penal Code. If convicted, John could face up to seven years in prison, in addition to a possible fine for his actions.
