Explanation using Example
Imagine a scenario where an individual, Raj, learns that his friend, Arun, who is a soldier in the Indian Army, has deserted his post. Despite knowing this, Raj decides to provide shelter to Arun in his own house, offering him food and a place to stay. Raj believes he is helping his friend in a time of need. However, under Section 136 of the Indian Penal Code, Raj's actions are considered a crime because he is harbouring a deserter. If caught, Raj could face imprisonment for up to two years, a fine, or both, unless Arun is Raj's brother-in-law and Raj's sister (Arun's wife) is the one providing the harbour.
