Explanation using Example

Imagine a government clerk, who is responsible for translating land ownership records from the local language into English for official purposes. If this clerk, with the intent to favor a friend, deliberately mistranslates the document to show that his friend has a larger piece of land than he actually does, this could cause injury to the rightful landowner who may lose part of their land. This act of the clerk falls under Section 167 of The Indian Penal Code, 1860, and the clerk could be punished accordingly if found guilty.
