Imagine a scenario where three friends, A, B, and C, plan to rob a bank. They agree that A will threaten the staff with a fake gun, B will collect the money, and C will drive the getaway car. During the robbery, A accidentally fires a real gun, injuring a bystander. Under Section 34 of The Indian Penal Code, 1860, even though only A fired the gun, all three friends can be held liable for the injury caused to the bystander because they acted with a common intention to commit the robbery.
