Explanation using Example

Imagine John has a written agreement with Sarah where he promises to sell his car to her for a certain price. They both decide to get the agreement attested by witnesses, although the law does not require this type of agreement to be attested. Later, a dispute arises, and Sarah sues John for not honoring the contract. In court, Sarah can present the agreement as evidence. Under Section 72 of The Indian Evidence Act, 1872, even though the document was attested, it can be treated as if it was not, meaning it doesn't have to meet any special requirements for attested documents and can still be used to prove the contract's existence and terms.
