Explanation using Example

Imagine Sarah hires Tom as an agent to purchase a painting from an artist named Rachel. Tom does not disclose to Rachel that he is buying the painting on behalf of Sarah. Later, when the payment is due, Rachel finds out that Tom was acting as an agent for Sarah. According to Section 233 of The Indian Contract Act, Rachel can legally seek payment from either Tom or Sarah, or she can choose to hold both of them accountable for the payment.
