Explanation using Example
Imagine a situation where the Khoja community in a particular state feels that the provisions of The Hindu Disposition of Property Act, 1916 would benefit them in managing their property affairs. The leaders of the community approach the State Government and express their desire to have the Act applied to them. After consultations and considering the community's wishes, the State Government agrees that it would be beneficial for the Khojas to be included under the Act. Consequently, the State Government issues a notification in the Official Gazette, stating that the Act will now apply to the Khoja community, with all references to "Hindus" in the Act being replaced with "Khojas". This notification specifies the area within the state where the Act's provisions will be applicable to the Khoja community, thus enabling them to dispose of their property in a similar manner as Hindus under the Act.
