Explanation using Example
Imagine John, an assembly line worker at a manufacturing plant, suffers a non-fatal injury on the job and begins receiving disablement benefit under The Employees State Insurance Act. As per Section 64:
- John must continue to visit the designated ESIC dispensary for his treatment and follow the recovery plan prescribed by his attending medical officer.
- He must avoid activities, such as heavy lifting, that could worsen his injury and delay his recovery process.
- John should not travel outside the city where he is receiving medical care without prior approval from his medical officer, as this could disrupt his treatment schedule.
- If required, John must also agree to a medical examination by an ESIC-appointed medical officer to assess his recovery progress.
