Explanation using Example

Imagine John, an assembly line worker at a manufacturing plant, suffers a non-fatal injury on the job and begins receiving disablement benefit under The Employees State Insurance Act. As per Section 64:

  1. John must continue to visit the designated ESIC dispensary for his treatment and follow the recovery plan prescribed by his attending medical officer.
  2. He must avoid activities, such as heavy lifting, that could worsen his injury and delay his recovery process.
  3. John should not travel outside the city where he is receiving medical care without prior approval from his medical officer, as this could disrupt his treatment schedule.
  4. If required, John must also agree to a medical examination by an ESIC-appointed medical officer to assess his recovery progress.
