The Departmentalisation of Union Accounts (Transfer of Personnel) Act, 1976 was enacted to provide for the transfer of personnel and officers from the Accountant General's Office to the Department of Union Accounts and to provide for the regulation of their services. The Act also lays down provisions for the regulation of pay, leave, pension, and other conditions of service for transferred personnel. It is applicable to all Union Territories and was enacted to improve efficiency in the management of public finances.
