The Delhi School Education Act, 1973 was enacted to provide a framework for the organization, management, and control of school education in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The Act applies to all recognized schools and prescribes the minimum standards for infrastructure, teacher qualifications, and curricular activities. It also lays down provisions for the appointment and conditions of service of teachers, the constitution and functions of school management committees, and the duties and responsibilities of school principals. The Act empowers the Directorate of Education to inspect schools and take action against those that do not comply with its provisions.
