Explanation using Example
Imagine a company, "GreenTech Power," plans to set up a new renewable energy plant in the Damodar Valley region. They intend to generate electricity and sell it to local businesses. However, their proposed plant will have a capacity of 15,000 kilowatts, and they plan to supply power at 40,000 volts to a nearby industrial park.
According to Section 18 of the Damodar Valley Corporation Act, 1948, before GreenTech Power can proceed, they must seek permission from the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) because:
- Their generation capacity exceeds 10,000 kilowatts.
- They want to sell electricity at a pressure above 30,000 volts.
Without obtaining this permission, GreenTech Power would be operating illegally in the Damodar Valley region. If they proceed without DVC's consent, they could face legal action from the Corporation.
