Imagine a scenario where the Indian government wants to promote the Hindi language in the southern states of India. To achieve this, they establish an organization called the Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha. To give it a formal structure, the government enacts a law known as the Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha Act, 1964.

The Section 1(1) of this Act simply states the name of the law, so when someone refers to "The Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha Act, 1964," it is clear which legislation they are talking about.

According to Section 1(2), this Act doesn't automatically come into effect upon being passed by the legislature. Instead, it requires the Central Government to specify a date when the Act will become operational. The government does this by publishing a notice in the Official Gazette. For example, if the Act was passed on July 1, 1964, the government might set the Act to come into force on January 1, 1965, and would announce this through the Gazette.
