Explanation using Example
Imagine a scenario where a law firm regularly purchases court fee stamps for filing various legal documents. According to Section 34 of The Court-Fees Act, 1870, the government has established specific rules for the sale of these stamps, which are published in the Official Gazette.
In this case, the law firm must buy the stamps from authorized sellers designated by the government. If the firm attempts to purchase stamps from an unauthorized seller, and if that seller is not appointed under the rules to sell stamps, both the seller and possibly the buyer could face legal consequences.
For instance, if an unauthorized stationery shop near the courthouse starts selling court fee stamps to make a quick profit, both the shop owner and the purchasers could be penalized. The shop owner could be subject to a penalty of imprisonment for up to six months or a fine up to five hundred rupees, or both, as per the provisions of the Act.
