Let's consider a case where an author, John, who holds dual citizenship of India and the USA, is writing a novel. The process of writing this novel extends over a significant period of 10 years. During this time, John spends 7 years in India and the remaining 3 years in the USA. According to Section 7 of The Copyright Act, 1957, for the purposes of this Act, John would be deemed to be a citizen of India, as he spent a substantial part of the period creating the work in India.
