The Act consolidates and rationalizes the laws relating to social security benefits such as old age protection, disability benefits, sickness benefits, maternity benefits, and any other benefits as may be determined by the government. The Code on Social Security, 2020 replaces several laws related to social security benefits, such as the Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952, the Employees' State Insurance Act, 1948, and the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961.
