Explanation using Example

Example 1:

Ravi, an accused in a criminal case, is tried in a court in Tamil Nadu. The original judgment is written in Tamil, the official language of the state. However, Ravi is from Uttar Pradesh and does not understand Tamil. He requests the court to provide a translation of the judgment in Hindi, the language he understands. According to Section 364 of The Code Of Criminal Procedure 1973, the court is required to add a Hindi translation of the judgment to the record of the proceedings, ensuring Ravi understands the judgment.

Example 2:

Meera is involved in a criminal trial in a court in Karnataka. The judgment is delivered in Kannada, the official language of the state. Meera, however, is from West Bengal and only understands Bengali. She requests the court for a translation of the judgment in English, which is the language of the court. As per Section 364 of The Code Of Criminal Procedure 1973, the court must provide an English translation of the judgment and add it to the record of the proceedings, so Meera can comprehend the judgment.
