Example 1:

Ravi, residing in Mumbai, sends an email to Sita in Delhi, pretending to be a bank official and convinces her to transfer INR 1,00,000 to his account by promising a lucrative investment opportunity. Sita, believing the email to be genuine, transfers the money. Later, she realizes she has been cheated. Under Section 182 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, the case can be inquired into or tried by a court in Mumbai (where the email was sent) or in Delhi (where the email was received and the money was transferred).
