Explanation using Example

Imagine a situation where someone wants to file a complaint against a theft that occurred. The statute of limitations (the time period within which legal action can be taken) is about to expire on a Sunday. Since courts are typically closed on Sundays, the individual is unable to file the complaint on the last day of the limitation period. According to Section 471 of The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, the complaint can still be filed on the following Monday when the court reopens, without being barred by the limitation period.
