Explanation using Example
Imagine a situation where John is charged with petty theft. During his hearing before the Magistrate, John decides to admit his wrongdoing. He tells the Magistrate, "I'm guilty of taking the items." The Magistrate then carefully documents John's exact words and, based on John's own admission of guilt, the Magistrate may choose to convict John without further evidence or trial proceedings, as per Section 252 of The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
