Explanation using Example

Imagine John is traveling by train from City A to City B, and during the journey, he gets into an altercation with another passenger, Mike, resulting in John physically assaulting Mike. The train passes through several jurisdictions during the trip. According to Section 183 of The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, the assault case could potentially be inquired into or tried by a Court in any of the local jurisdictions that the train passed through during the journey. This means that instead of the case being limited to where the train started or ended its journey, it could be addressed by a Court in any of the areas the train traveled through when the offence took place.
