Explanation using Example
Imagine that Sarah, who lives in Mumbai, has her expensive camera damaged by John during a visit to Pune where John resides. The incident happened in Pune, but John also has a business in Mumbai. Under Section 19 of The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, Sarah has the option to file a lawsuit for compensation either in Pune, where the damage to her camera occurred, or in Mumbai, where John conducts his business.
