Summary

The Coconut Development Board Act, 1979 was enacted to provide for the establishment of a Coconut Development Board with the objective of promoting the development of the coconut industry in India. The Act provides for the constitution of the Board, its powers and functions, and the appointment of officers and employees. The Board is responsible for formulating and implementing schemes for the development of coconut cultivation and industry, and for advising the Central and State Governments on matters relating to the coconut industry. The Act also provides for the regulation and control of the production, processing, and marketing of coconuts and coconut products, and for the levy and collection of cess on the sale of coconuts.
