Explanation using Example

Imagine a scenario where a member of the Border Security Force (BSF), let's call him Constable Arjun, has been serving for two years. He suddenly decides to start a business and wants to resign before the end of his engagement period. According to Section 8 of The Border Security Force Act, 1968:

  • (a) Arjun is not allowed to resign from his appointment during the term of his engagement without proper authorization. This means he can't just quit; he has to serve for the duration of his term or seek special permission to leave earlier.
  • (b) If Arjun decides to stop performing his duties or wants to take a break from his responsibilities, he can't do so on his own accord. He must obtain prior written permission from the prescribed authority within the BSF to be relieved of his duties, even temporarily.

In both cases, Arjun must follow the proper channels and procedures outlined by the BSF Act. Failing to do so could result in disciplinary action against him.
