Explanation using Example

Example 1:

Rani, a 25-year-old woman, was attacked with acid by her ex-boyfriend after she rejected his marriage proposal. The acid attack caused severe burns and permanent disfigurement. Under Section 124 (1) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, her ex-boyfriend was charged with voluntarily causing grievous hurt by use of acid. He was sentenced to imprisonment for 12 years and fined Rs. 1 lakh by the Court of Session.

Example 2:

Rajesh, a shop owner, got into a heated argument with a customer over a faulty product. In a fit of rage, Rajesh threw a bottle of acid towards the customer, but it missed and hit the wall instead. Under Section 124 (2) for voluntarily throwing or attempting to throw acid, Rajesh was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment and fined Rs. 20,000 by the Court of Session.

Example 3:

During a festival, a group of youngsters was playing with fireworks on the street, endangering the lives of passersby. One of the fireworks exploded near a pedestrian, causing minor injuries. Under Section 125 of the act, the person responsible for the fireworks was charged with endangering human life or personal safety of others. He was sentenced to imprisonment for 3 months and fined Rs. ...
