Explanation using Example
Imagine a situation where Mr. A finds out that a piece of land he claims ownership of has been registered under Mr. B's name as a tenure or farm. Mr. A believes this registration is incorrect and that it infringes on his property rights. Under Section 48 of The Bengal Land Revenue Sales Act, 1859, Mr. A has the right to file a lawsuit for the cancellation of this registry, provided he does so within the time limits set by the applicable statute of limitations. This law gives Mr. A a legal avenue to seek redress in court and attempt to have the incorrect registration overturned, thus protecting his property rights.
