Example of Article 129 Application:
Imagine a journalist publishes an article falsely alleging that the judges of the Supreme Court of India are biased and corrupt, without any proof or factual basis. The Supreme Court takes notice of this publication and considers it an attempt to tarnish the judiciary's image and undermine its authority. Invoking Article 129 of the Constitution of India, the Supreme Court decides to initiate contempt proceedings against the journalist for scandalizing the court. As a court of record, it exercises its power to punish for contempt to uphold the dignity and authority of the judiciary.
