Explanation using Example
Imagine the Chief Justice of India is scheduled to undergo a major surgery that will require a significant period of recovery during which they cannot perform their duties. In this situation, the President of India, under Article 126 of the Constitution, will appoint another judge from the Supreme Court to carry out the responsibilities of the Chief Justice until the Chief Justice can resume their duties or until the vacancy is filled permanently.
