Explanation using Example

Imagine the Speaker of the Lok Sabha has resigned, creating a vacancy. According to Article 95 of the Constitution of India, the Deputy Speaker would step in to perform the duties of the Speaker. If, by chance, the Deputy Speaker's position is also vacant, the President of India would appoint another member of the Lok Sabha to carry out the Speaker's responsibilities until a new Speaker is elected.

Now, consider a day when the Speaker is temporarily absent from a particular session of the Lok Sabha. In this situation, the Deputy Speaker would take over the Speaker's role for that session. If the Deputy Speaker is also absent, the Lok Sabha would follow its established rules of procedure to select an acting Speaker. If those rules do not specify anyone, the Lok Sabha members would decide amongst themselves who should act as the Speaker for that session.
