Explanation using Example

Imagine a scenario where a sitting Member of Parliament (MP) is elected as the President of India. According to Article 59 of the Constitution of India, the moment the MP takes the oath of office to become the President, they automatically lose their MP position. They cannot continue to serve in Parliament or any state legislature. Furthermore, once they assume the presidency, they cannot hold any other job that would provide them with additional income. The President is also provided with an official residence and is entitled to a salary and other benefits determined by Parliament, which cannot be reduced during their term to ensure the independence of the office.
