Explanation using Example
Imagine the President of India decides to step down before their 5-year term is complete. According to Article 56, the President writes a resignation letter, addressing it to the Vice President. This act of resignation is a direct application of Article 56(1)(a). After doing so, the President immediately informs the Speaker of the Lok Sabha about this resignation, as stipulated by Article 56(2). The President continues to serve until a new President is elected and assumes office, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity of the presidential functions as mentioned in Article 56(1)(c).
