The Warehousing (Development and Regulation) Act, 2007

The Warehousing (Development and Regulation) Act, 2007 provides for the regulation and development of warehouses for the storage of goods in India. The Act aims to facilitate the creation of a well-functioning warehousing system to promote the orderly growth of the warehousing business and to protect the interests of the customers and the warehouse keepers. The Act also provides for the establishment of a Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority to oversee the implementation of the provisions of the Act. The Authority is responsible for granting licenses to warehouse keepers, setting standards for warehousing, regulating the fees charged by warehouse keepers, and resolving disputes between the customers and the warehouse keepers. The Act also lays down the procedures for the registration of warehouses and the rights and obligations of the warehouse keepers and the customers.
