Summary

The Technology Development Board Act, 1995 was enacted to promote the development and commercialization of indigenous technology in India. The Act establishes a Technology Development Board (TDB) as an autonomous body to promote the development and commercialization of technology in India. The Board provides financial assistance in the form of equity, soft loans, and grants to industries, research institutions, and individuals engaged in developing technology in India. The Act also provides for the constitution of a Fund for the development and commercialization of technology. The Board is empowered to take all necessary steps for the promotion of technology, including the acquisition of patents, licensing of technology, and the transfer of technology from abroad.
