Imagine John sells his car to Alice but later refuses to deliver it, claiming the contract was not valid because he was coerced into signing it. Alice sues for specific performance under the Specific Relief Act to enforce the contract. In court, John can defend himself by invoking Section 9 of the Act, arguing that he has a valid defense under contract law (coercion), which should prevent the enforcement of the contract. Thus, the court would consider John's defense as part of the case.
