Summary

The Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act, 2005 was enacted to regulate the functioning of private security agencies and to provide for their effective management and control. The Act provides for the registration of private security agencies and lays down the eligibility criteria for such registration. It also provides for the renewal and cancellation of registration, and the revocation of licenses. The Act mandates that private security agencies adhere to certain guidelines with regards to the recruitment, training and working conditions of their personnel. The Act also provides for the establishment of a Private Security Agencies Central Registry to maintain records of private security agencies and their personnel.
