Explanation using Example
Imagine a scenario where an employee named John is working at a manufacturing plant. One day, John gets involved in a heated argument with a coworker, which escalates into a physical altercation on the factory floor. The company has a strict policy against violence, and after an investigation, John is found to have instigated the fight and is subsequently dismissed from his job for riotous and violent behaviour.
According to Section 9 of The Payment of Bonus Act, 1965, since John's dismissal was due to violent behaviour on the premises of the establishment, he would be disqualified from receiving any bonus that he might have been eligible for that year under the Act.
