Explanation using Example
Let's consider an example. Mr. Sharma, a retired judge from the Supreme Court, is appointed as the Chairperson of the National Green Tribunal. According to the law, he can serve in this position for a term of five years. However, the law also states that if he reaches the age of seventy during his term, he will have to vacate his position, regardless of whether his five-year term has ended or not. Similarly, if Mr. Verma, a retired Chief Justice of a High Court, is appointed as a Judicial Member, he cannot continue in his position beyond the age of sixty-seven. The same age limit applies to a retired High Court Judge appointed as a Judicial Member. In the case of Expert Members, they cannot hold office beyond the age of sixty-five.
