The National Food Security Act, 2013

The National Food Security Act, 2013 is a significant welfare-based legislation enacted by the Indian Parliament to ensure access to adequate quantities of quality food at affordable prices to the citizens of India, especially to those who are in need of such provisions. This Act aims to provide food security to about two-thirds of the Indian population and includes provisions for the identification of beneficiaries, the distribution of food grains, and the establishment of grievance redressal mechanisms.
