The National Commission for Backward Classes (Repeal) Act, 2018

The National Commission for Backward Classes (Repeal) Act, 2018 was introduced in the Lok Sabha on August 2, 2018. The Act seeks to abolish the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) and transfer its functions to the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC). The NCBC was established under the National Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1993 to examine requests for inclusion of any class of citizens as a backward class in the lists and hear complaints of over-inclusion or under-inclusion of any backward class in the lists. The Act provides for the transfer of the employees of the NCBC to the NCSC and the amendment of certain Acts to replace references to the NCBC with references to the NCSC.
