The National Capital Territory of Delhi (Recognition of Property Rights of Residents in Unauthorised Colonies) Act, 2019

The National Capital Territory of Delhi (Recognition of Property Rights of Residents in Unauthorised Colonies) Act, 2019 is an Act of the Parliament of India that recognizes property rights of residents in unauthorized colonies in Delhi. The Act was passed in December 2019 and aims to provide legal ownership of properties to the residents of unauthorized colonies, which were earlier considered illegal. The Act also provides a mechanism for registration of these properties and lays down the process of regularisation of such colonies. The Act is expected to benefit around 40 lakh people living in unauthorized colonies in Delhi. The Act has come into force on January 29, 2020.
