Summary
The National Capital Territory of Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Act, 2007 was enacted to provide certain special provisions for regularization of unauthorized colonies and certain other categories of development in Delhi. It enables the regularization of unauthorized colonies in Delhi, which were in existence as of March 31, 2002, and allows for their development in accordance with the prescribed norms and procedures. The Act also provides for the regularization of other categories of development, such as industrial areas, commercial complexes, and hotels, subject to certain conditions. It further empowers the government to take measures for the preservation and conservation of certain areas in Delhi, such as the Ridge, the Yamuna riverbed, and the floodplains. The Act has been amended several times, most recently in 2019, to provide further relief to the residents of unauthorized colonies in Delhi.
