Explanation using Example

Imagine John owns a minibus and has a permit to operate it as a tourist vehicle only within the city limits of Springfield. One day, he decides to use the minibus to transport goods for a friend to a neighboring city, Rivertown, which is not covered by his permit. While on this trip, he is stopped by traffic police for a routine check. Upon inspection, the police find that John is using the vehicle for a purpose and on a route not authorized by his permit.

John is charged under Section 192A of The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 for using his vehicle without a proper permit for that route and purpose. As this is his first offence, he faces the possibility of imprisonment for up to six months and a fine of ten thousand rupees. However, the court has the discretion to impose a lesser punishment if there are valid reasons to do so.
