The Manipur Municipalities Act, 1994

The Manipur Municipalities Act, 1994 was enacted to provide for the establishment, constitution, powers, and functions of municipalities in Manipur. It defines the various classes of municipalities, such as Nagar Panchayats, Municipal Councils, and Municipal Corporations, and outlines their respective powers and responsibilities. The Act also lays down provisions for the election and appointment of members of the municipalities, their duties and powers, and the conduct of municipal business. In addition, the Act provides for the levy and collection of various taxes and fees by the municipalities, and the creation and maintenance of municipal funds for developmental purposes.
