Explanation using Example
Example 1:
Ravi, a resident of Mumbai, sneaks into his neighbor's house and steals a gold necklace worth ₹50,000. The neighbor discovers the theft and reports it to the police. Upon investigation, the police find the stolen necklace in Ravi's possession. Ravi is charged under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code for theft. If convicted, Ravi could face imprisonment for up to three years, a fine, or both.
Example 2:
Sita, a shopkeeper in Delhi, catches a customer, Ramesh, trying to leave her store without paying for a mobile phone worth ₹10,000. Sita calls the police, and Ramesh is arrested for theft. Under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code, Ramesh could be sentenced to imprisonment for up to three years, fined, or both, depending on the court's decision.
