Explanation using Example
Example 1:
Ravi, a 25-year-old man, plans to rob a jewelry store in Mumbai. He carries a gun and a mask and waits outside the store for the right moment. Just as he is about to enter the store, the police, who were tipped off about his plan, arrest him. Although Ravi did not actually rob the store, his actions and preparations clearly indicate an attempt to commit robbery. Under Section 393 of the Indian Penal Code, Ravi can be punished with rigorous imprisonment for up to seven years and may also be fined.
Example 2:
Sunita, a 30-year-old woman, decides to rob a bank in Delhi. She enters the bank with a fake bomb and demands money from the cashier. However, before she can take any money, the bank's security personnel apprehend her. Even though Sunita did not succeed in taking any money, her actions constitute an attempt to commit robbery. According to Section 393 of the Indian Penal Code, Sunita can face rigorous imprisonment for up to seven years and may also be subject to a fine.
