Explanation using Example

Example 1:

Ravi, a local resident, enters his neighbor Suresh's house without permission while Suresh is away at work. Ravi does not have any intention to steal but simply wants to look around. Suresh finds out about this unauthorized entry and files a complaint with the police. Under Section 448 of the Indian Penal Code, Ravi can be charged with house-trespass and may face imprisonment for up to one year, a fine up to one thousand rupees, or both.

Example 2:

Priya, a tenant, has been asked to vacate her rented apartment by the landlord, Mr. Sharma, after her lease expires. Priya refuses to leave and continues to stay in the apartment without Mr. Sharma's consent. Mr. Sharma files a complaint against Priya for house-trespass. According to Section 448 of the Indian Penal Code, Priya can be punished with imprisonment for up to one year, a fine up to one thousand rupees, or both for unlawfully occupying the property.
