Explanation using Example

Example 1:

Ravi, a resident of Mumbai, pretends to be his twin brother Raj in order to secure a loan from a bank. Ravi uses Raj's identification documents and signature to complete the loan application process. The bank, believing Ravi to be Raj, approves the loan. When the fraud is discovered, Ravi is charged under Section 419 of the Indian Penal Code for cheating by personation. He faces imprisonment for up to three years, a fine, or both.

Example 2:

Priya, a college student in Delhi, creates a fake social media profile using the name and photos of her classmate, Anjali. Priya uses this fake profile to communicate with Anjali's friends and family, asking for money by claiming that she is in urgent need. When Anjali finds out and reports the matter to the police, Priya is arrested and charged under Section 419 of the Indian Penal Code for cheating by personation. Priya could be sentenced to imprisonment for up to three years, fined, or both.
