Example 1:

Rahul, a resident of Delhi, during a public gathering, deliberately makes derogatory remarks about a particular religion's deity in front of a group of followers of that religion. His intention is to provoke and hurt their religious sentiments. As a result, the followers feel deeply offended and report the incident to the police. Rahul can be charged under Section 298 of the Indian Penal Code for uttering words with the deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of the followers.

Example 2:

Priya, while attending a cultural festival in Mumbai, intentionally displays a highly offensive caricature of a religious symbol that is sacred to another community. She does this in a manner that ensures members of that community see it, knowing it will hurt their religious sentiments. The offended community members file a complaint against Priya. She can be prosecuted under Section 298 of the Indian Penal Code for placing an object with the deliberate intention of wounding the religious feelings of the community members.
