Example 1:
Ravi, a resident of Mumbai, is involved in a property dispute with his neighbor. To strengthen his case, Ravi decides to impersonate his neighbor, Suresh, in court. Ravi forges Suresh's signature and submits a false affidavit admitting that the property belongs to Ravi. When the court discovers the impersonation, Ravi is charged under Section 205 of the Indian Penal Code for falsely personating Suresh and making a false statement in a legal proceeding. Ravi faces imprisonment for up to three years, a fine, or both.
Example 2:
Priya, a college student in Delhi, is caught cheating during an exam and is facing disciplinary action. To avoid punishment, Priya pretends to be her classmate, Anjali, and attends the disciplinary hearing in Anjali's name. Priya makes a false confession, claiming that Anjali was the one cheating. When the school authorities find out about the impersonation, Priya is reported to the police. Under Section 205 of the Indian Penal Code, Priya is charged for falsely personating Anjali and making a false confession in a proceeding. Priya could be sentenced to imprisonment for up to three years, fined, or both.
