Example 1:

Ravi is a witness in a murder trial. During his testimony in court, he intentionally lies about seeing the accused, Raj, at the crime scene, even though he knows Raj was not there. Ravi's false statement is intended to mislead the court and wrongfully convict Raj. Since Ravi has given false evidence in a judicial proceeding, he can be punished under Section 193 of the Indian Penal Code with imprisonment for up to seven years and a fine.
