Explanation using Example
Example: Rita urgently needs to sign a lease for her new apartment. The landlord, Vikram, aware of her urgency, threatens to destroy Rita's car, which is an act forbidden under the Indian Penal Code, unless she agrees to pay double the standard rent. Fearing the loss of her vehicle, Rita signs the contract. This is an example of coercion as defined by Section 15 of The Indian Contract Act, 1872, because Vikram's actions involve threatening to commit an unlawful act to force Rita into an agreement.
